What was your background before joining the Data Analyst course?
Before joining the course, I already had a more analyst-oriented profile. I trained in geopolitical analysis and began my career as a contract officer in the army, where I worked as a cartographic analyst. I then moved into the private sector to become a technical analyst, while remaining in the defence sector. So joining this course was a logical next step: I wanted to specialise even more in the technical side of things.
What motivated you to learn about data analytics?
I'd already had the opportunity to work several times with data analysts, a type of work that really interested me. Some of my assignments already overlapped with their tasks, which made me want to go further. I wanted to specialise further and above all learn to master all the software and suites used in data, such as those offered by Google or Microsoft.
Why did you choose the School of Data?
I chose Artefact's School of Data because it was highly rated, with many positive reviews online. The value for money also seemed very attractive. When I compared it with other existing courses, I found that the timetable, duration and variety of software and technologies covered were similar, but that all the criteria I was looking for were present here. That's what convinced me to join this course.
What were your challenges during the course?
The most challenging aspect was clearly learning Python, as I'd never used it before. I had a few basics in SQL, which enabled me to find some logic, but I was starting from almost zero. There are a lot of concepts to assimilate: it's very interesting, but it requires you to really get your hands dirty and not give up.
What tools did you discover during the course?
I particularly enjoyed learning about tools geared towards the final part of the analysis, once the data has been processed. Producing explanatory graphs and learning to use recognised software such as Google Looker Studio, Power BI and even a short stint on Dataiku were very rewarding.
What impact has the course had on your career path?
I took this course to specialise more in the technical management of databases. I was already doing this with very specific software, but I wanted to broaden my skills, particularly with the most widely used tools. The aim is to strengthen my expertise, to remain ideally in the defence field that I'm passionate about, and to be able to respond to a greater number of job offers.
The School of Data in a nutshell?
